wolf range burner won't ignite

Renowned for its quality construction, superior power, and sleek appearance, Wolf ranges are among the best luxury options. But even this high-quality appliance can fall victim to such common problems as burners that won’t ignite. Why is my Wolf gas range not lighting? If dirt and debris block the igniter and burner ports, the gas won’t be able to light. Determine why your Wolf range burner won’t ignite to restore your stove’s first-rate function.

What to Do When Your Wolf Range Burner Won’t Ignite

Given the reputation of this quality brand, there’s usually a simple adjustment or DIY fix when your Wolf range burner won’t ignite. Here’s how to address the power issues, dirty buildup, and lingering moisture most often responsible when your range burner does not light.

Check Power Connections

Without consistent access to adequate power, your gas range won’t turn on. Even gas ranges require electricity to power the igniter and other components. If the range’s control display isn’t illuminated, it likely isn’t receiving power.

Check the range’s electrical cord to make sure it’s properly plugged into a functioning outlet. Also, check your home’s circuit breaker box and reset any tripped breakers that could cut off power to the range. If all connections are correct and the range’s control display is functioning, the burners are likely dirty and require a thorough cleaning.

How to Clean Wolf Sealed Burners

Though you probably wipe down your range after cooking, cleaning the burner components should be part of regular stove maintenance. This is because spills, grease, and food particles can accumulate unseen, blocking burner ports and clogging the igniter. When this happens you’ll find your Wolf range not working because the gas can’t flow or ignite.

Follow these steps to clean your Wolf sealed burners:

  1. Spray a clean cloth with a mild degreaser or detergent until damp.
  2. If the burner is cool, remove the grates and lift each burner head and cap straight up to remove.
  3. Wipe down each component with the damp cloth.
  4. Rinse under running water.
  5. Dry thoroughly with a clean towel.
  6. Use a dry toothbrush, toothpick or straightened paper clip to remove detergent or debris from burner port holes.
  7. Use a scouring pad between the burner and igniter to remove grease and debris. If there is buildup on the igniter, gently rub it with the pad.
  8. Reassemble burner components and grate.

Check for Moisture Around the Burner

If your Wolf range burner won’t ignite after a cleaning, lingering moisture may be impairing the igniter. The igniter must be dry for it to produce the spark that lights the gas. If the igniter doesn’t spark when lighting the burner, look for leftover water, cleanser, or spills that may be preventing it from working.

Give the range an extra 5-10 minutes to air dry before attempting to light the burner again. To speed up drying, aim a hairdryer at the burner for several minutes to quickly evaporate lingering moisture.
